Da Nang wins on pedigree. Four marquee designers sit within an hour: Norman, Nicklaus, Luke Donald and Nick Faldo. Chiang Mai counters with excellent foothill courses at a fraction of the price.

Da Nang's draw is a dense cluster of championship names. BRG Danang Golf Club opened its Greg Norman links course in 2010 and added a Jack Nicklaus 18 completed in 2020 (Where2Golf, accessed 2026-09-06). Here is the trap. March is Chiang Mai's worst air-quality month. Burning season runs mid-January to mid-April and peaks in March, when AQI routinely passes 150 and has topped 300 on the worst days. Do I have to fly between them?

Only if you play both. Chiang Mai needs no flight at all. A direct Thai AirAsia hop of about 1 hour 55 minutes links the two if you want a combined trip.

Chiang Mai's courses ring the valley 15 to 45 minutes from the city, so a Chiang Mai golf week involves zero flights once you land at CNX. In Chiang Mai the courses sit 15 to 45 minutes apart around one valley, so a private driver can run you out for an early tee time and back for lunch with room to spare.
