The value case is not the green fee alone. It is the transfer. A Gassan round costs 30 to 45 minutes each way to Lamphun, plus ฿1,400 to ฿2,500 for a pre-booked private return. Lanna dates to the 1970s and is run by the Royal Thai Army inside the Lanna Sports Center on Chotana Road. Twenty-seven holes, par 72, flat ground under mature trees, roughly 10 minutes from the moat. That location is the whole argument: no van, no 6am pickup, a Grab from an Old City hotel and you are on the first tee. Published cart fees conflict between ฿400 and ฿600 depending on the source, and whether the caddie is bundled into the ฿1,350 varies by who is quoting, so confirm both at the counter before you pay.

What you give up is atmosphere. There is no resort clubhouse, no spa, and the practice facility is basic. Pace of play can drag on weekend mornings when local members are out in force. What you get is 18 holes for less than the taxi fare to most of the resort courses, which makes Lanna the right answer for a half-day gap in a sightseeing itinerary rather than the headline round of a golf trip.

What does Chiangmai Inthanon cost once caddie and cart are added?

The gap matters, so ask which version you are being sold. Chiangmai Inthanon opened in the late 2000s and sits about 40 minutes south of the city on the road toward Doi Inthanon, with mountain backdrops that photograph well on a clear cool-season morning. Which cheap course should you skip?

Gassan Khuntan. At around ฿2,100 all-in it is not the cheapest, it is the weakest-conditioned Gassan, and it is the longest transfer at 45 minutes or more.

Gassan Khuntan has the most dramatic mountain scenery of the three, and on a clear cool-season morning that is worth something. But you are paying more than Panorama for worse turf and a longer drive, and the extra half hour each way eats the afternoon you were going to spend in the Old City. Bring cash. Some clubhouses take cards for the green fee but almost none take cards for the caddie tip, and a few of the cheaper clubs are cash only throughout.
