It is the flattest and easiest Gassan course, plays 6,852 yards, and runs floodlit night golf at ฿1,650 all-in during the green season.
Gassan Legacy Golf Club was renovated by Schmidt-Curley and plays fair for every handicap. Wide landing areas keep beginners moving, and the forward tees take a lot of length out of it for seniors and juniors. The night option is the real family feature: grandparents who wilt at 1pm play comfortably under lights in the evening, and teenagers tend to love the novelty. The honest trade-off is distance. It sits in Lamphun, 30-45 minutes out, so it is a half-day commitment with the transfer.
Where can grandparents play close to the hotel?
Lanna Golf Club sits about 10 minutes from the Old City, has 27 holes, and is one of the rare Chiang Mai courses that permits walking.
Lanna Golf Club dates to 1974 and is a local favourite with a green fee around ฿1,350. Short transfers mean less time in a van for older travellers and an easy morning back at the hotel by lunch. Walking suits fit grandparents who dislike carts, while anyone who wants to ride can take one. North Hill is the other close option, about 15 minutes from the airport, and it is conditioned like a private club. It is a good arrival-day or departure-day round when the family does not want a long drive.
How do we handle one premium round for the whole family?
Book Chiang Mai Highlands for the showpiece day. At ฿3,400 all-in it is one of the best-conditioned courses in the region, and the spa keeps non-golfers happy.

Give them 9-hole evenings and forward tees. Chiang Mai Gymkhana and Star Dome offer short, low-pressure golf close to the city.
Chiang Mai Gymkhana was founded in 1898 and plays 9 holes over 2,909 yards. Fees are reported to be low but come from dated sources, so confirm them on the day. It is a good place for a teenager to find their swing before a full round with the family. Star Dome is a floodlit 9-holer close to the city at roughly ฿1,400 for 9 (dated reviews, confirm live). On full rounds, we ask the course for forward tees for juniors and tell caddies up front that a newer player is in the group, so they help with club choice and keep things moving. How do transfers work for a big family?
One private van beats several Grab rides. Pre-booked round trips to a course run about ฿1,400-2,500, and golf bags fit.
CNX airport is about 4 km from the Old City, so arrival is easy. The course runs are the hard part. Grab at 6am with six golf bags and a grandparent who needs the front seat rarely works. A private driver waits at the course, and nobody has to find a ride back after 18 holes. For groups above six players with bags, we usually book two vehicles or one large van so nobody rides with clubs on their lap.
